This is our Annual Meeting of Members that includes the election of directors who will serve a 3-year term.  The board has nominated three candidates:

●     Jennifer Wang Kuhn

●     James McGhee, M.D.

●     Nancy Whitt

In addition to the election of directors, we will be asking you to vote to approve amendments to our Bylaws. See Condensed Revisions to TCLA Bylaws attached hereto.

Also, we are asking you to vote on whether to proceed with constructing a modular library building.  Modular Building Construction Plan attached hereto.

The County of San Luis Obispo announced in March 2020, that no funds will be available for partnering with TCLA to build a library in Templeton.  TCLA immediately began exploring building options.

We identified a modular building as an option. TCLA has funds on hand to construct a 2880 square foot library using a modular building.  This type of building is a strategic fit in our community as it is from the same company that provided the Templeton High School STEM buildings and will have a similar look to the high school’s STEM buildings.

TCLA plans to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with SLO County for the County to operate the Templeton library once construction is complete.

Your vote is important!

Please return your ballot in the enclosed envelope by U.S. Mail before November 5, 2020, to be received and tallied prior to our Annual Membership Meeting on November 9, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.

 Sincerely,

Melinda Reed

TCLA  President

Director Candidate Bios:

Jennifer Kuhn - My name is Jennifer Kuhn and I have been the Library Tech at Templeton Elementary School for the past 6 years.  My family lives in Templeton and both my daughters attend school in TUSD.  I am very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the TCLA board and help support the establishment of a library.

James McGhee, M.D. - My name is Jim McGhee. I am a local pediatrician and father of 3 children. My children attend school here in Templeton and Paso Robles. I have been practicing medicine for 19 years, with the last 7 being on the central coast and one of my passions in my practice has been to encourage literacy. I feel like a community library would be a wonderful addition to Templeton and would benefit all of us, which is why I would like to be a part of the TCLA board.

Nancy Whitt  - My family and I moved to Templeton in 1980. Both of my children attended Templeton elementary and high school here. I’ve worked as an RN at Twin Cities Hospital for almost 40 years having retired a year ago. As a kid, the library was a favorite place for a bookworm like myself. As the world has changed, so have libraries evolved into a community hub as well as a learning resource.   I would love to be a part of making this much needed library happen in Templeton.
