The site for the Templeton Community Library has
been secured at the southeast corner of Vineyard and Main. The Templeton
Community Library Association has entered into a lease with the Templeton
Unified School District. The terms of the lease runs for 20 years with two
20 year renewal options.
The library will be housed in a 4207 square foot building surrounded by a drought tolerant landscape.
The building has been designed by Robert L. McCormick, M. Arch. Mr. McCormick has been a licensed architect in the State of California for over thirty years. Before entering private practice, Mr. McCormick was the senior designer for the Ron D. Young Architectural Organization specializing in school design.
Mr. McCormick has designed a building
incorporating environ-mentally sensitive features. An example is the
clerestory running the length of the building allowing abundant nature light
into the library.
Additionally, lower light shelf windows facilitate natural
lighting of the interior. The building’s light plan calls for sensors which
will dim lights as the natural light becomes sufficient for library
activity.
